RESTAURANT MENU DESIGN

A Dine-In Menu for the Modern Green Carnivore

Flora’s Door is a plant-based restaurant and vegetable “slaughterhouse” where fruits and vegetables are treated as a butcher would meat. The kitchen chops and carves fresh produce into healthy vegetarian dishes.

The challenge for this project was to design a dine-in food and drinks menu for the restaurant that would clearly communicate its offerings while reflecting its identity. The goal was to create a design with a strong, readable layout that helps customers quickly find their favourite dishes.

THE PROCESS

The design process involved exploring typeface pairings that aligned with the restaurant’s theme, developing a clear typographic hierarchy to guide readers smoothly through the menu, and exploring appropriate colours focused on plant-based tones.

THE SOLUTION

The final solution combines type and raster graphics to create an evoking menu design that captures the essence of the establishment. Elements such as the collage-style cow were inspired by the idea of a “vegetable slaughterhouse” and help to communicate the identity of the restaurant. The primarily green colour palette helps connote freshness and natural plant produce. The design eases diners’ meal selection and makes them feel welcome, helping increase sales for the client.
